The group’s headquarters is the Old Abbey in Mettlach in the Saarland region of Germany.



Jean François Boch, the third generation of the Boch family, purchased the Benedictine abbey in 1809. The company now operates production sites in eight European countries and in Thailand. Villeroy & Boch employs around 6,700 people all over the world. It has been a joint-stock company (Aktiengesellschaft) since 1987 and was listed on the stock exchange in 1990.


Villeroy&Boch can look back on a history spanning over 270 years, making it one of the longest-established European brands. We are proud of the very strong bonds that still exist between the family and the company.
